A job search is a time of uncertainty, both financial and emotional. It can be extremely draining and stressful to some people. People invest so much time and energy into this process that they tend to focus on little else. This uncertainty coupled with the stress can cause a person to burnout, since the job search can be a very prolonged process for many people. Everything becomes imbalanced, and we may not be able to present the best version of ourselves at interviews. So how do we take care of ourselves during this process? The answer lies below:
Do not panic. Searching for a job is much easier than it seems, despite the competitive market. With the correct resources in hand, it becomes much simpler to handle.
Have a strategy. Pick and choose your potential employers. Talk to current or former employees from that workspace and try to figure out if it is a good fit for you.
Take a break. Having multiple interviews lined up or applying for many interviews are both draining. Take time out for self care. Go out for walks, exercise as much as you can. Your mental and physical health receives a boost.
Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. focus on the strengths and try to work on your weaknesses in a mindful manner.
Don’t be afraid to seek help. Talking to a mental health professional about your anxieties is the most advisable option if it seems difficult to deal with on your own. In case you are not comfortable talking to a mental health professional, you can always approach your family or friends. Try talking to someone in your circle who has been in this situation recently. Along with emotional help, you might also receive some good professional advice.
