Resignation Letter Templates

Resignation letters should be brief and to-the-point. There are three important things to include in your letter: 

  • The fact that you are resigning;

  • When your last day of work will be; 

  • A “thank you” for the opportunity of having been able to work for the employer.

  • the date you handed this in, since this will be filed into official company records.

Writing a tactful resignation can be daunting, so here are some templates to help you out. Template 1 is more formal and precise, while Template 2 is more informal and personal. Depending on your connection with your manager and circumstance for resignation, you can pick whichever is most appropriate.

If I can assist with the transition to my successor, please do let me know.
